Hindi Book Exhibition-2023

 As part of the Hindi week celebration of the institute, an exhibition of the Hindi books is jointly organised by the Central Library and the Official Language Implementation Committee of the institute during 12-13, Sept 2023 at the Chemical Science Building, IISER TVM.

 Prof. J.N Moorthy, (Hon’ble Director, IISER Thiruvananthapuram), will inaugurate the exhibition at 4 PM on 12^th Sept, 2023. All types of Hindi books will be on display during this exhibition.

An Exhibition of Hindi Books was jointly organized by the Central Library and the Official Language Implementation Committee of the Institute during 24-25 September 2021.

A large number of Hindi books were displayed in the exhibition, which was inaugurated on 24th by Prof. JN Moorthy, Director IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

Prof S. Murty Srinivasula (Prof. Incharge-Administration), Col. Robinson George (Retd) (Registrar), Prof.Yashwant D Vankar (Emeritus Professor), Deans, HoDs, faculty members, staff, and students of the institute attended the inaugural function and visited the exhibition. During the inaugural session, Prof. JN Moorthy and Prof.Vankar shared their experience in Hindi. 

The exhibition was held as part of the Hindi Week Fortnight celebrations organized by the Institute.

Library Orientation Programme for BSMS Students

Library orientation program for the newly joined BSMS students was held on 30th July 2019, in the seminar hall of the Physical Science Building. Dr. Sainul Abideen P, Asst. Librarian and Officer-in-Charge (Library) provided a very detailed demonstration of the library services. A practical session that followed the theoretical session gave an opportunity to the students for online registration of the library account, un-spamming of the email, and social media registration, etc. It was followed by the library tour, in which the students learned about library activities and services.

Editorial Workshop Concludes

The Central Library, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram organised an Editorial Workshop on ‘How to Publish with Taylor & Francis’ on 22.02.2017.

The goal of this workshop was to make the IISER community aware of the publishing process, various steps involved and to provide tips and advice in the publishing process and thereby enhancing the publications of the Institute. The workshop was held at the seminar hall of the Institute

The workshop was handled by Dr. Gagandeep Singh, senior editor (acquisitions) for engineering/environmental sciences at the CRC Press. He is also editorial manager for the CRC press team in India and takes care of engineering acquisitions programme in Australia as well.

Faculty members and students were well attended in this workshop. The participants from the permanent campus took part in the workshop via video conferencing.

The workshop started with a welcome address by Dr. Sainul Abideen. P, Asst. Librarian, followed by the presentations by Dr Gagandeep Singh.  Participants got useful insight from the speaker on how to prepare a perfect manuscript and how to avoid the common mistakes while drafting an article. He spoke about the difference parameters of publishing books and articles. He explained what peer review is, and how to handle peer-review comments and talked about the copyright issues and how to manage them to avoid piracy.

At the end of the session, speaker clarified the doubts of the participants by answering their question regarding the topic.

An exhibition of CRC press books was also arranged as part of the workshop, which was attended by faculty members and students.

Book Exhibition held in the Central Library

As part of the Mathrubhasha Diwas, Central Library organised an exhibition of Books at the Institute Library, on 3rd March 2016.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. V Ramakrishnan,Director IISER Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of the faculty, Staff and Students. Prof V Ramakrishnan, and Shri. M Radhakrishnan (Registrar) spoke during the inaugural function. Several faculty members, Staff and students  visited the exhibition, which showcased many Malayalam books by famous authors. The collection included Novel, Poetry, Short Stories, Biographies, Travelogue etc.

IISER TVM participation in the 11th Annual Meet & Workshop of the INDEST-AICTE Consortium

IISER Thiruvananthapuram  participated in the 11th Annual Meet & Workshop of the INDEST-AICTE Consortium held at IISER Mohali held during 29-30 April 2015. 

Dr. Sainul abideen , Asst. Librarian delivered an invite talk on “Applications of ‘Wink’ Software in developing self-instructional tutorials for e-resources”, during the meet.

Kannur University Students visits IISER Library

Students and faculty members of the Department of Library & Information Science, Kannur University visited IISER Library on 20^th January 2015.  Their visit was as part of their educational tour. Dr. Sainul Abideen, Asst. Librarian, IISER Thiruvananthapuram explained about the library, its services, electronic resources and databases of the Library.

Training Sessions on Digital Libraries at FCRI Palakkad

Dr Sainul Abideen, Asst. Librarian was invited to conduct training sessions on Developing Digital Libraries using GenISISWeb for the participants of the International Training Programme on Digital Library Practices & Information Technology Application for Knowledge Management organized by the Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI) Plakkad, (under the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Govt. of India) during 11-12  December 2014. Delegates from 20 countries attended his sessions.
